West Point is a community of 8,000 situated just 20 minutes north of Salt Lake City, along the shore of the picturesque Great Salt Lake. One of the fastest growing communities in Utah, West Point is fast becoming one of the finest and most vibrant communities in the Beehive State.

Like many communities, West Point's largest age group is under the age of 18. With an average age of 26, West Point residents are extremely well-educated. The average income is twice the national average as well, owing to the fact that most of the residents here are employed in a professional to managerial position.

West Point is also a very safe place to live, mostly because most people here own their homes, which adds an element of pride and respect for other people's right to own and look after their homes.

The community was an outgrowth of Syracuse, with an early name of South Hooper. The origin of the name is the result of locating the settlement on a point or small peninsula extending out into the Great Salt Lake. Another record suggests it was named for the famous military school in the state of New York.

This area is truly a gem; surrounded by mountains and next to the Salt Lake, West Point is a popular place to settle. Most homes here sell for between $120,000 and $380,000. Rentals are not very common, and most people choose to buy their own home. Single family homes are the first choice for home owners, and although there is a diversity in style of home, you will not find multi-family homes in this area.

West Point places a high priority on education, especially as so many residents here have completed some form of higher education. West Point has excellent primary and secondary schools.

West Point is right in the middle of the marvelous recreational and cultural happenings and events that are available along the Wasatch Front. Eight major ski resorts are within a 45-minute drive. The cultural treasures of downtown Salt Lake City, such as Ballet West, the Utah Symphony, Temple Square, and sporting events at the Delta Center are just a few minutes away.

West Point, like the rest of this area, is exceptionally beautiful. As people look to other states in which to settle, Utah, and the Salt Lake area is increasingly becoming a region people want to settle. New commerce is springing up, and because it is such an affordable locality, more and more people are choosing to settle here.
