The small community of Shelburne, lying along the shores of Lake Champlain with the Adirondacks to the west and the Green Mountains to the East. Shelburne was founded in 1763 as a farming community. It is the home of the 1400 acre Shelburne Farms which is a working farm, national historic site and a non-profit educational organization that invites the public to enjoy all it has to offer. The 45 acre Shelburne Museum has one of the best exhibits of early American life. Both the Shelburne Museum and Shelburne Farms were once a part of the Vanderbilt family estate. Shelburne is also the home of Vermont Teddy Bear Company where handcrafted bears are skillfully created.

Shelburne has its own beach, four parks and Shelburne Pond which offers a variety of activities: biking, hiking, boating, fishing and swimming. Shelburne Bay Park provides walking or cross country skiing on a two mile loop along Lake Champlain, a three mile bike path and picnicking. Shelburne has many fine shops, restaurants, motels and businesses.
