Dale City is the friendliest "little" city in northern Virginia. With a good size population of over 50,000 residents, Dale City enjoys amenities common to metro areas, but the spirit and hospitality of the people give this community a unique, small town feeling. Once a sleepy little town on the farthest outskirts of Washington DC Dale City has seen rapid growth since the 1970's. Today, this community is fully developed and still anticipating more growth.

More shopping centers have been added in addition to a solid school system, and city services. With the advancement of road systems and transportation, the distance from Dale City to Washington D.C., a mere twenty-seven miles, seems much more attainable, even practical for employment or schooling opportunities.

Summer comes in with a splash here in Dale City as the WaterWorks Waterpark opens. Kids and grown ups alike get excited when this "aquatic playground" opens its doors every year. Some of the features to this state of the art water facility include a speed slide, beach volleyball, a two level children's wading pool complete with bubblers and sprayers, and a zero depth entry pool.

If golf is your game, Prince William County offers four outstanding golf courses with pristine greens, and well-manicured bunkers and fairways. Whether you are ready for a challenging round of golf, or just want to golf nine holes over a lunch hour, you are just minutes away from the best golf in northern Virginia. The Lake Ridge Golf and Marina in nearby Woodbridge also includes fishing, boating, hiking trails, picnic area's, a playground and even miniature golf, opening up options the entire family would enjoy.

One of the highlights in this area is the Potomac Mills Outlet Mall, currently Virginia's largest tourist attraction. This retail Mecca encompasses over two hundred twenty stores offering large discounts. Twenty-five restaurants are dispersed throughout this shopping campus giving hungry shoppers a respite for lunch, dinner or just a coffee break. An eighteen-theatre cinema is also located within the shopping complex.

Located right next to this gigantic outlet mall is the Hylton Memorial Chapel. This is a non-denominational event center designed to bring unity to this region of northern Virginia and Washington D.C. With comfortable seating for almost 3,500 people (including space that is handicapped accessible), this center has a calendar chocked full of concerts, services, and seminars all facilitating renewal throughout the region.

Dale City boasts an excellent school system. There are three private schools within the city limits offering educational alternatives. There are a great variety of colleges and universities in close proximity to Dale City. George Mason University, Northern Virginia Community College and George Washington University are all within a thirty mile radius making Dale City an excellent choice for those looking to attend college but need to be close to family or employment options.

Real estate options are plentiful in the Dale City area. There is an especially large selection in condos and townhouses. Condominiums with two bedrooms and two bathrooms start in the 180,000's. Plan to spend a bit more for a detached, single family home. A modest, three bedroom, two and a half bath home would be about $230,000. A home a bit larger with four bathrooms and three and a half baths would cost about $369,000. If it's elbowroom you are looking for, acreage is precious and you will have to pay a bit more. A four-bedroom home with three and a half baths situated on a beautiful half-acre lot would cost about $449,000.
