Since opening in 1991, Wyndham has become Richmond's fastest growing residential community. It is comprised of approximately 48 secure and private neighborhoods, with recreational amenities such as Otter Pond Park, a community park with soccer fields, volleyball and basketball courts, playground and Tot Lot, plus a scenic gazebo and amphitheater. The Wyndham Swim and Racquet Club is home to a neighborhood pool open during the summer months. The Dominion Club is a more upscale swim and racquet club. It houses two pools, a spacious clubhouse and a full 18 hole golf course.

Also within Wyndham is Millstone, a one street neighborhood that connects the two ends of Wyndham. Shady Grove Elementary School sits adjacent to Millstone, and most Wyndham children attend this school through grade 5.

In the middle of Wyndham sits Wyndham Lake, a 22-acre lake near Otter Pond Park. This man-made lake is a popular spot for fishing and walking or biking. It is also the location for Wyndham residents to meet for National Night Out.

The Chickahominy River also runs through Wyndham, but can only been seen if you walk the approximately two mile hiking trail that begins in Otter Pond Park and ends towards the back of Wyndham.
