Population: 14,557 Located in Skagit County

Located in the heart of the Pacific Northwest, Anacortes is a charming, historically rich waterfront community on Fidalgo Island. Equally distanced between Seattle to the south and Vancouver, British Columbia to the north, Anacortes is a great place to experience "island time" without having to catch a ferry, except for fun. Fidalgo Island is connected to the mainland and Whidbey Island by bridge and to the San Juan Islands and Victoria, BC by year round ferry.

Ideally situated within the rainshadow of the Olympic Mountain range, Anacortes enjoys more sunny days and much less rain than Seattle. Miles of waterfront afford visitors panoramic views from every shore with Mount Baker and the Cascades to the east, San Juan Islands and Canada to the west, Olympic Mountain Range to the south.

Naturally blessed, Fidalgo Island is a popular spot for outdoor activities such as camping, fishing, kayaking and bicycling. Amenities include a 2,200 acre Community Forestland with an extensive trail system, six freshwater lakes, and many beaches and parks. Spectacular sunsets are almost commonplace!

The Town of Anacortes is also known for the quantity and quality of its antique and gift shops gathered along Commercial Avenue. From the water's end at Curtis Wharf to the highway, you’ll find plenty to eat, drink and keep you merry.
