Black Diamond, Washington
Population: 1,422 Located in King County
With in the city limits of Black Diamond recreation facilities are limited to a three-acre park adjacent to the Black Diamond Elementary School and a Community Gym. The park has two paved tennis courts and a basketball court. The Black Diamond Elementary School has a playfield and is the site of Little League and soccer games for the community. Within the Black Diamond region there are a number of county and state facilities, which undoubtedly serve some of the Black Diamond residents recreational needs. Included in these are the following: Wilderness Lake, about 7 miles north of the city, which has a large county park and a Game Department boat launching ramp; to the northeast. Lake Sawyer has public boat ramps, is heavily used for water skiing, and offers year round fishing; to the east of the city is the Green River Gorge, about four miles from the center of town; to southwest is Flaming Geyser Park and the Green River Conservancy area.
