Issaquah started as a logging and mining town back in the late 1800's; incorporated in 1892, the city of Issaquah has a present population of over 9,000. Within the greater region served by the Issaquah School District, however, there are approximately 53,000 residents. In the last twenty years it has grown tremendously.

Today, the town is still a quaint community along Interstate 90, about a 30-45 minute commute to either Seattle or Bellevue. To the east, Snoqualmie Pass is only a 45 minute drive away. Also, SeaTac airport is a short commute to the south via Highway 900.

Amenities in the area include a local cinema, and the nationally-acclaimed 488-seat Village Theater. The Costco and Ernst corporate headquarters are located here. The Washington State Salmon Hatchery is the most-visited salmon hatchery in the state and provides the setting for Issaquah's Salmon Days, a festival in October to celebrate the salmon's return up Issaquah Creek. Historic Downtown Issaquah features Gilman Village shops--Gilman was one of Issaquah's founding fathers.

Close to Snoqualmie Pass and Seattle half an hour east of downtown Seattle on Interstate 90. Here you will find a number of cultural and educational opportunities, all located within this rural setting. Issaquah also features nearby Lake Sammamish, where one can relax on the beach, or go water-skiing. Lake Sammamish State Park sits on the southern shore of this lake. Issaquah is nestled among what are known as the "Issaquah Alps." These hills include Tiger Mountain, known around the region for its miles of trails and wildlife.

You will find a lot of newer construction in Issaquah; southern Issaquah features a lot of horse property. Tiger Mountain and Cougar Mountain are more treed. In the coming years, residential and commercial expansion will occur as the city moves towards a master planned community. In Issaquah's Historic Downtown district you will find the Gilman Village shopping center, which was very popular decades ago and still remains a focus for destination shopping. The nearby Cougar Hill
housing development features older houses surrounded by trees, as well as excellent access to Interstate 90.
