Oysterville, Washington

Oysterville is located on the tip of Washington State's Long Beach Peninsula, a 28 mile stretch of land, roughly a mile wide that's been compared to Cape Cod without the development.

Settled in 1854 and known as "the town that oysters built", Oysterville was once a bustling town of 500, and thanks to the oyster trade, it is said that there were more gold coins here than in any other town on the West Coast except for San Francisco.

Today it's listed on the National Register of Historic Places and serves as an evocative reminder of Washington's rich past. Willapa Bay is a sanctuary for wildlife including herons, eagles, deer, raccoons, and if you're lucky, you may even spot one of the neighborhood black bears who also appreciate Oysterville's peace and quiet.
