Port Orchard is a vibrant small city on Sinclair Inlet. Our downtown was first established over 100 years ago. The many stores and restaurants offer a myriad of services to our citizens and visitors. In the summer, there is always something happening along the waterfront. We have Fathoms O' Fun, 4th of July fireworks, festivals and concerts.

If you haven't visited the real Port Orchard, Washington before, you're in for a real treat. What this town lacks in size (population is 7,693 or so) it makes up for in things to see and do.

Nestled on the shores of quiet Sinclair Inlet, the jewel of the South Kitsap area serves as the county seat. Founded in 1885 by Sidney Stevens who paid a whopping $900 for 88 1/2 acres, the town originally bore his name. In 1903, Sidney became Port Orchard, named in honor of Captain George Vancouver's navigator. The original town of Port Orchard was actually part of Bremerton.

Located a scant nine miles by water from Seattle, Port Orchard is worlds away in terms of lifestyle, pace and pleasure. The downtown marina, considered by many boaters to be the best in Puget Sound, is a block away from Bay Street. Here, you'll find numerous restaurants, antique shops, cafes and coffee shops. Several galleries dot the street as well. A foot ferry operated by Horluck connects Port Orchard to its nearby cousin, Bremerton. It's free on weekends during the summer months.
