Sudden Valley, a 1,500-acre resort development nestled amid trees along the shores of Lake Whatcom, is ideal for nature lovers. Sudden Valley is a natural wildlife preserve, so residents frequently see eagles, deer and much more. Golfers will enjoy the 18-hole Sudden Valley Golf & Country Club, which has hosted many of the Pacific Northwest’s top tournaments. A marina serves boaters and kayakers, while a swimming pool, recreational center, tennis courts, parks, beaches and trails provide plenty of choices for everyone. And if that’s not enough, you’re not far from saltwater and the scenic San Juan Islands to the west.

Sudden Valley also is only 15 minutes away from Bellingham, Washington’s 11th-largest city with a population of 73,460 in 2006. Located along Interstate 5, Bellingham is within 75 minutes of Seattle and Vancouver, B.C., two of the world’s most beautiful and vibrant cities. Local residents and businesses expect to enjoy 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. Bellingham is served by Amtrak and multiple airlines, including Delta Airlines, Horizon Air and Allegiant Air. Western Washington University, which has approximately 13,000 full- and part-time students, provides numerous educational, cultural and entertainment options. Bellingham also is home to many medical specialists and St. Joseph Hospital, a leader in the care of heart, cancer and senior patients.
