Whidbey Island, Washington
Population: 58,211
Located in Island County Whidbey Island is the longest island in the continental United States and one of the most scenic places in the world to live. Surrounded by the Cascade Mountains to the East and the Olympic Mountains and Olympic Peninsula to the West, British Columbia to the North and Mount Ranier to the south, we are treated to oceanfront and glacier covered mountain views on a daily basis (except during the rainy season of Oct-July). The population of Whidbey Island is somewhere in the realm of 20,500 people, most of whom live in Oak Harbor. Other than a few small towns, the island is mainly rural with dense forests, wetlands and miles of windswept beaches. The only way to get off of the island is by ferry at the southern end or via the deception pass bridge which links us to Fidalgo Island and ultimately the mainland at the northern end.
