The City of Bridgeport is a beautiful bedroom community with medium to upscale housing and a nationally recognized school system. Chartered in 1816, incorporated in 1887. Bridgeport (pop. 9,000) is located in north central West Virginia approximately thirty miles south of Morgantown, at the major intersection of Interstate 79 and U. S. 50. It lies east of Clarksburg, the County Seat, and is approximately two hours north of Charleston, the capital of West Virginia.

While retaining its small town atmosphere, Bridgeport continues to grow with its retail climate, small businesses, light industry, aerospace industry and professional services. Growth has not jeopardized the family oriented type community that it is. The city hall is located at 156 Thompson Drive.

Meadowbrook Mall, a 750,000 square foot regional mall is a retail focal point for Bridgeport. Bridgeport has a strong existing retail base and is poised for the future with the creation of White Oaks, a 175 acre mixed-use planned development awaiting prospective hotel, restaurant, research and development, and other service related establishments. Bridgeport is also emerging as an aeronautics and aviation hub with the creation of a 45 acre airport industrial park located at Benedum Airport.
