Hurricane City Park located adjacent to the water reservoir on State Route 34 in Hurricane is a fine facility for summer fun. The part, established in the early 1970's, is picturesque and available for family gatherings, class reunions or school outings.
Skateboarding and in-line skating have become a popular sport for all ages. hurricane has taken positive action to provide a safe environment for this new pastime. Skateboarding equipment including ramps, quarter pipes, half pipes and a fun box provide challenges for young and old alike. The Skate Park is located within Hurricane City Park and is open during park hours for the public.
Culture and arts thrive! Main Street Gallery, a local artists' cooperative, features original art and classes. The Museum in the Community offers exhibits, lectures, classes and "hands on" activities for children and adults. Families also have opportunities to attend theatre, dance and multi-music concerts at the new Arts Center in nearby Charleston, the Capitol City, and in Huntington, the River City.
