Our newest place of interest, and one we are extremely proud of, is the Barlow Planetarium located at the University of Wisconsin Fox Valley campus. It features 3-D excitement, large color special effect and five channel surround sound. For the sports enthusiast, there is cross country skiing, ice skating & hockey, bicycle trails, boating and fishing. The stock racing at Wisconsin International Speedway is always exciting! We are located 25 miles south of Green Bay where the Super Bowl Champion Packers play. The Appleton Timber Rattlers (the Seattle Mariners class "A" minor league farm team) have their own local stadium.
The Fox River Mall is the largest mall north of Milwaukee. There are also many specialty shops so no matter what you are looking for, you should be able to find it!
Oshkosh is located 20 minutes south of the Fox Cities where the world famous EAA convention is held in July/August.
There are various employment opportunities here. We are the world headquarters for Aid Association for Lutherans, Secura Insurance, Jewelers Mutual and The Guardian. As we are located on the Fox River, there are numerous paper mills and subsidiaries.
Harry Houdini lived in Appleton and there is a museum downtown dedicated to his life and career. You can obtain a walking tour map and observe the places where he lived, played and worked.
We have 3 major hospital centers in the valley as well as smaller facilities. The hospitals have been recognized at being in the top 100 nationwide. There are numerous restaurants and pubs throughout the Fox Valley. Whatever your taste buds desire or what you r wallet allows, you will find it here!
Lawrence University is located in Appleton. This is a 4 year university. Menasha is the home of UW Fox Valley.
