The City of Chilton is the county seat for Calumet County. Driving down the main street, you will note several retail as well as commercial businesses mixed in with residential homes. While driving off the main street into the residential areas you'll find older neighborhood with well maintained homes and yards. The newer areas of the city where recent building of single family homes and two unit condos are being build, all have that down home feeling. The Manitowoc River flows through the city. There are both private and public schools in the city. There is also a community hospital. There are several recreational facilities located in the city and not far outside of the city is a golf course. The city has several larger employers, most notably Kaytee Products, Chilton Manufacturing, and Chilton Malting. There are also several retail businesses. The city is expanding in both the residential area and the commercial area with the recent addition of a new grocery store and a Wal-Mart.
