Pewaukee - A "Lake Country" Community
The town of Pewaukee is one of the fastest-developing rural areas in metropolitan Milwaukee. The summer cottages which once lined the shores have been improved and expanded into year-'round homes, and the gentle hills surrounding the old village hold many lovely homes. Several upscale residential subdivisions are currently under development.
Also, Pewaukee has become a popular location for new business parks and corporate headquarters. The median income is $61,698. Pewaukee is served by the Pewaukee School District. The student/teacher ratio is 16.72% of graduates plan to attend college.
Pewaukee recreation is offered by Pewaukee Lake which is the largest lake in the area and yields more fish per acre than any other in the state. A water-lover's paradise in the summer with sailing, boating, water-skiing and swimming. With the first hard freeze, hundreds of ice shanties form a mini-community as die-hard fisherman huddle inside protected from Wisconsin's winter weather. There are several fine golf courses, and many parks, playgrounds, and horse, snowmobile and cross-country trails. Other area attractions: sailing, skiing, fishing, cross country skiing, golf at many public and private courses and yacht club within city limits.
